JP is currently in the 20th percentile for height and weight; doctors would prefer he be up in the 30's but are ok with his progress
Porter will remain on his reflux meds but no longer needs his diuretic medication

9.24.2007 - Porter laughs for the 1st time

9.18.2007 - Back to CHOP but this time just for evaluation which Porter passed with flying colors; we have a couple things to work on but nothing out of the ordinary
9.16.2007 - We have settled into somewhat of a nighttime routine, Porter goes to bed around 7:30 and then wakes up at 12:30, 4, 4:30 and 5
9.13.2007 - JP has his first follow up visit for surgery number 2, according to doctors he is healing very well and the chance of a needing a 3rd repair are very very very low
9.10.2007 - It looks like Porter has a little reflux, we have once again started him on zantac
9.3.2007 - Porter is still a little congested but doing fantastic all things considered
9.2.2007 - It is official Natalie is potty trained!!
9.1.2007 - JP may be coming down with a cold as he was very congested last night
8.31.2007 - JP is once again gaining weight and eclipsed the 10 lbs mark this morning
8.30.2007 - Natalie spent the whole day without a diaper and had zero accidents!! No More Diapers for Natalie (nap & bedtime excluded)

8.28.2007 - J. Porter is released from the hospital for a 2nd time
8.27.2007 - All of Porter's IV's are disconnected and as long as he continues to eat he will be released tomorrow
JP's blood pressure has lowered a bit and doctors are not concerned about it
8.26.2007 - Doctors increase JP's feedings up to 40 ml's in the afternoon and up to 60 ml's in the evening
8.25.2007 - Doctors remove Porters morphine drip
At approx. 7pm Porter has the most anticipated poop of his life, followed shortly there after by a second poop
JP blood pressure has been a bit high might be becoming a concern
8.24.2007 - JP's epidural is removed
Doctors remove Porter's salem sump (tube used to help drain gas and fluids from the stomach)
Feedings are started (5 ml every 3 hours) as we continue to wait for poopy diaper
8.23.2007 - Doctors take Porter's chest tube out!
Without the chest tube we were once again able hold him again
8.22.2007 - It was a very rough night for JP as he tries to recover from yesterday's surgery
Porter is in a huge amount of pain from his surgery, it seems to be as a result of the huge chest tube he has
Our hope is it will be removed in another day or two
8.21.2007 - Doctors successfully re-repair Porter's diaphragm, this time using a small gortex patch
JP surprises everyone by returning to the NICU extubated

8.7.2007 - Porter returns to CHOP for a routine visit, Doctors are pleased with his progress do not need to see him again until Oct.

Dr. Liechty would like us to wait on filling the zantac prescription and wants to see JP in two weeks
Porters weight is not a concern for Dr. Liechty, he says he is doing just fine

7.22.2007 - JP is slowly gaining weight, Sunday's unofficial weigh in has him at 7 lbs. 8.5 oz.

7.20.2007 - Nurse visits Porter at home, pleased to see him eating from a bottle, worried he might have some reflux
Porters feet do not fit 0-3 month old socks, I guess he has big feet.... and you know what they say about guys with big feet!!
7.19.2007 - Pediatrician a little concerned about Porters weight. Will see him again in 4 days
JP enjoys sleeping in his pack'n play more than his bassinet
7.18.2007 - Porter gained weight overnight (a prerequisite for being released)
Doctors will give Porter the standard newborn hearing test before his discharge
Car seat is installed and bassinet is ready
JP is released and we bring him home for the first time!!!!

7.11.2007 - Doctors surprise everyone by EXTUBATING Porter today; he is doing great breathing on his own!!!!!
Porter cries out loud for the first time since birth. He is very horse but crying is a good sign

Porter is currently eating 35 cc's every 3 hours, doctors would like to gradually push that number up to 60 cc's

7.5.2007 - Today doctors remove two of Porters medicines (dopamine & versed)
Porter begins eating real milk (5 cc's for his first meal)
JP is digesting his milk and is eating every 3 hours
7.4.2007 - Porter continues to recover from surgery, doctors begin to ween him off the ventilator
7.3.2007 - The 2nd try was the charm... Doctors successfully repaired Porter's diaphragm and also removed his appendix while they were in there
7.2.2007 - Doctors run into a bit of a snafu while preping for surgery, the procedure has been postponed until tomorrow
7.1.2007 - Porter is officially labeled stable and they expect to do surgery sometime tomorrow
6.30.2007 - Doctors have estimated JP's birth weight at 7 lbs 11 oz (3.5 kg)
